Embark on a journey to Echizen, the eastern part of the Fukui Prefecture, where you can experience both various traditional local crafts and the deeply ingrained local culture.
First, you will get to experience the beauty of the Japanese wagasa umbrella made from the traditional Echizen washi paper and make your very own, one-of-a-kind umbrella. Then you will visit the Takefu Knife Village, the otherwise off-limits knife workshop of the youngest blacksmith in history to be recognized as a master of his craft to witness his artisanal prowess and craftsmanship. After that you will learn about the traditional arts of Echizen lacquerware and maki-e and their 1500 years long history from a maki-e master, under whose guidance you will have the opportunity to make your very own unique knife and fork. This tour will not only let you experience the traditional crafts in depth through authentic masters, but also let you make your own - making this tour truly worthy of the title “premium”.
Furthermore, in the evening you will get to feast on exquisite sashimi made from freshly caught seasonal and local fish, or the “Shabushabu kaiseki” prepared with rare cuts of the elusive A5 Wakasa beef. Spoil yourself with impeccable local cuisine and the luxury of a high-class suite room.
